
In 2013 outline planning permission was granted for five plots on the Old Road campus covering 48,000 square metres. That permission was for:
“Demolition of existing buildings on application site. Outline planning application (fixing details of access) for the erection of 48,000sqm of class D1 research floorspace and ancillary facilities on 2 to 5 storeys over 5 building plots as an extension to University of Oxford Old Road Campus. Provision of 459 car parking spaces, cycle parking, hard and soft landscaping and boundary treatment”

Three of the five buildings have been completed, one is being built, and one is still a pending planning application.
Plot B1: Institute for Global Health
Approved on 8 June 2022 and currently being built
This £32m facility designed by Associated Architects is currently being built on the north-west corner of the Old Road campus (with Old Road to the north and Mileway Gardens to the west), by Morgan Sindall Construction, It will accommodate 400 staff and 330 researchers:
“Construction of 4552 square metres of office, research and teaching space (F.1 Use Class) for the Institute for Global Health. Provision of an outbuilding to provide cycle parking, bin storage and associated sprinkler system with associated hard and soft landscaping works”.

The original outline plan included the loss of the Triangle Nursery, but an application has now been submitted for its permanent retention (25/01233/FUL). This nursery nursery run by Kids Planet looks after a maximum of 88 children on any one day.
